StowAway Voltage Logger

The StowAway Volt is a feature packed, general purpose logger that can be set up for numerous voltage logging applications. Start the logger, readout and plot the data with BoxCar® Pro (Windows) or LogBook® (Mac) software.

INPUT and GND (ground)
The logger measures the voltage difference between the INPUT and GND lines. It properly handles signals connected to the INPUT line if they are between 0 and 2.5 volts with respect to GND. The INPUT line should never be exposed to voltages less than -0.2 V or greater than 3.5 V with respect to GND.

BAT
BAT is available to provide power to external circuitry. This is the same battery that powers the logger; any power drawn from it will reduce its normal two year operational life. The 3.5 volt battery has a capacity of 370 mAh.

SENSE
The SENSE line can be used to enable power to the sensor with external circuitry only during the time a measurement is actually being made. See Timing Diagram.

Calibration
The logger's accuracy is guaranteed by using precision parts. It has no calibration adjustments. To ensure proper part function and assembly operation, each StowAway Volt is tested for accuracy at eight different voltages.

Timing
Input is active for 15 milliseconds during measurement. The actual A-D reading occurs 2 milliseconds after the sense line goes high. See Timing Diagram.

Input characteristics
The logger has a ±0.1µA maximum leakage while disconnected and a ± 0.4 µA maximum leakage while connected. The sense line and analog input line each have a 100K series resistor to help protect them from out-of-range inputs. The BAT line is not protected by a series resistor.
